The Flip
Michael Phillip Cash

Julie and Brad Evans are house flippers. They buy low, clean out the old occupants’ junk, and try to make a profit. Enter Hemmings House on Bedlam Street in scenic Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island. Too good a deal to pass up, but with an ominous secret. The old Victorian Mansion has dwellers that do not want to be dispossessed. As the house reveals it’s past, will the couple’s marriage survive The Flip?

From Publisher’s Weekly- The Flip

Michael Phillip Cash (Stillwell) again succeeds in setting an engaging supernatural thriller in the world of Long Island real estate, though he’s stronger at depicting human relationships than he is at generating scares. Julie and Brad Evans have hinged their hopes of financial security on house flipping, a work-intensive strategy that offers them few opportunities for relaxation. Brad has misgivings about their latest acquisition, a creepy Victorian mansion, ominously situated on Bedlam Street in Cold Spring Harbor. Those feelings are validated when he’s victimized by Tessa, a voracious female ghost with very carnal appetites. Cash is effective at creating his version of the afterlife, where ghosts like Tessa exist in fear of more powerful entities known as the Sentinels. His best work comes, however, in his plausible portrayal of a marriage under stress from the need to hustle to stay solvent. (BookLife)

 Review:

I really liked this book, this is my first time reading anything from Michael Phillip Cash and I was certainly not disappointed as a first time reader.

Though it was not particularly fast paced, it was such a good entertaining book!  I will be honest, I do tend to love my scary movies and at first as I was reading it, I could not help myself and remember that old Tom Hanks movie The Money Pit.  However, this one has a supernatural element to it.

We have 2 sets of couple, Bard and Julie our house flippers and then we have Tessa and Gerald who are actually ghosts.

Now, there isn’t really a super villain per say, but Tessa is really a royal pain in the neck!  Up until the last minute I just wanted to wring her neck with her selfishness.  The woman pissed me off, and I always love that when an author can manage to make me feel so much for a character in terms of love or even pure loathing!

I got a hard copy for the review (YAY!!), so the book was less than 200 pages long and a lovely quick read. I read it all in one go on a lovely Saturday night and it was way better than my usual Netflix flipping through the horror movies.

I am going to highly recommend The Flip as it was really very nicely written and I enjoyed very much hating on Tessa (hey a girl gotta have her fun!)

So guys and dolls, why don’t you grab yourself a copy, you have links right below and I hope you enjoy The Flip as much as I did.  And I also hope to read more books from Michael Phillip Cash in the future and share them with you all my beloved readers!
