Someone has taken the childhood games too far, using the idea of superstitions to dispose of their classmates. Review:
I pretty much wish I could see Jinxed as a movie sometimes in the future!
I am a huge fan of horror movies, the great ones and even the crappy cheesy ones as long as there is something to them, then I am all for it. Jinxed as you now know is a horror book.
It did take me a while to get into it, but once I did and I think that happened after chapter 2 I was hooked! When I think about it now it was a cool mashup of Scream meets I Know What You Did Last Summer, at least that is where my brain went as I was reading. Considering I was a huge fan of both of these 2 movie franchises, then you know I had a huge smile on my face as I was reading.
It’s funny, as I was reading I could really see it running in my head in live video. Does this ever happen to you?
So to give you more info, the story is pretty much centered about Layna who is a high school senior about to graduate. Her friends start vanishing/dying and things take a really bad turn for a lot of people!
I am not saying another word, as I am too worried of handing over spoilers and where would we be?
What you need to know is that the book was really nicely written, I liked that the baddie was not all that mighty and perfect in his evil, he does stumble a bit and that we get twists that nearly made my heart stop.
There are things I saw coming, but for me this is not disappointing it is more of an “Ah ha… I knew it!” and then I go all gloaty (is that even a word?) with myself.
Jinxed was truly entertaining, nicely written with good flow and pace. I loved the surprises and twists and really that ending left me handing to my bed! Is there going to be a sequel in the spirit of I Still Know What You Did Last Summer? I mean that ending, I need to know… the suspense is killing me!!!
Don’t do this to me, this girl likes closure!
But if there is a follow up, I can live with waiting…
Grrr….
Ok back to Jinxed! If you love like me your scary movies then you are going to love this book! I finished it in one go and I am really curious to read more from Thommy! You know that means that I am going to be very highly recommending it!
I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
