The Ex Effect by Karla Sorensen

The Ex Effect
by Karla Sorensen
Release: December 5, 2018
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Cover Design: Najla Qamber Designs

The headline could write itself:

Matthew Hawkins, star defensive end, comes out of retirement to play for the Washington Wolves.

Which is perfectly fine by Ava Baker—it makes her job as publicist for the team easier.

There’s only two problems. This particular football player was her first crush.

The bigger problem: Matthew Hawkins was once engaged to her older sister.

It’s been ten years since Ava has seen Matthew. He’s bigger, better looking, and best of all—completely single. Despite his history with her sister, the attraction between Ava and Matthew isn’t so one-sided anymore.

It’s hot enough to burn down the entire city of Seattle.

But this headline is far more complicated to write. And not just for the press or what it means for her family— because once her heart is involved, there’s no predicting the ending.

Review:

I loved this book!

I have been enjoying the more contemporrary romances and this one is a superstar! Pretty much devoured it in one go, and got really sad when it ended!  Over the past few months, I have gotten more and more into sports romances and this one was way up there.

I loved Matthew and Ava so much, they are pretty awesome as their own self but together, I could not wipe the huge smile off my face.

What took this book to the next level for me, was the back story for both characters.  It was really great seeing their relationship when they were younger and the evolution in present time.  There were so many great moments throughout the book.

I laughed, got choked up a little and through it all, it was just plain wonderful!

I do not want to get too much into the details, because I would never take it away from you, after all do you really want me to spoil it for you?

I think Karla did an amazing job with the characters, I did mention that I love Matthew and Ava, they were lovable, relatable and in my case could not help myself to root for them.

I am going to be very highly recommending The Ex Effect and if you fan of romance, this baby will certainly not disappoint you.  I would have been happy with a few more chapters!

Frankly, I am now looking into reading more of Karla’s books, as I have been crazy busy I have not had the chance to explore if she has more books out, but as this is my first one, I can tell you that I am very pleased with it.

There is one of Matthew’s teammate that deserves his own story, I hope he gets to have a happy ending and we get another book!

Author Bio:

Well, let’s see … I’m a wife and a mother. If the things that I write bring a smile to someone’s face, then I’ve done my job.  I am obsessed with Outlander (both the books and the show). I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob. If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies. I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I’ll love you forever.
