The Last Atlantian

Genres: Mythology, Urban Fantasy, Young Adult
Spencer did not plan to work on her birthday. She didn’t plan a lot of things, but they happened anyway. Like, when she touched a guy and he turned into a gold statue, or when some stranger appeared to tell her she was in danger. She didn’t plan to see her life forever changed by one simple act, and it still happened anyway.
What Spencer doesn’t know is why. Why is all this happening to her? Why does she have the power to turn people into gold all of a sudden. Who is she really?
And why is this cute guy calling her the last Atlantian?
Review:
It is not often that I get to read books about Atlantis, so I was all over this baby.
Overall, I did enjoy The Last Atlantian and Spencer was an interesting lead, and I finished the book quite quickly. That being said, my feeling was that it was too short; it did feel at the end of it that it was too fast and I felt like a lot of things were missing.
To be honest, I cannot recall if this was a standalone novel or if it is the beginning of a series. If this is book 1 of a series, then I do hope the next books will fill in the gaps and not move as quickly when it comes to certain events. Though we all know I love a fast-paced book, I still need information so that the plot can move smoothly.
That being said, I liked the originality of the story and I am all for Atlantis being real!
I am not going to go into details, and certainly no mention of what happens in the end, but I am a big fan of having a second book following soon. I would love to see Spencer grow and there is a lot of room for it considering she is only 17 and I can see so much potential there.
We just need to keep the execution on point.
I am going to recommend The Last Atlantian and hope you enjoy it, if you are obsessed like I am with the legend of Atlantis, it will put a little smile on your face for sure.
