Adanya Tebbet-Theus and The Dark Mask (Twisted Book 2)
by Iuliana Foos
An overlord cursed to spend his days as a ruthless, emotionless beast of a man; a woman hell-bent on revenge; when these two meet, heaven and earth implode.
Driven by hatred and a thirst for revenge, Adanya wants nothing more than to kill the tyrant Overlord Xarrix, the Beast behind the Mask. Until he, the man she holds responsible for her parents’ deaths, blackmails her into marrying him.
From behind the safety of his mask, Xarrix has taken the galaxy hostage with his impressive Armada, as well as enough secrets to bend anyone’s will. A prophecy reveals the Beauty determined to end his life is the key to his hidden desire for peace–if he can conquer her heart.
When worlds and swords collide, Adanya and Xarrix are unprepared for hatred to turn into love. Crossing the line between enemies to lovers, proves to be a much higher price for the desired peace than either were prepared for. Only one question remains: can they find love and bring about peace before one of them dies?
**This is a sweet, closed door romance for ages 14+.
Review:
A big thank you to start for Iuliana for kindly sending me the ARC before publication. To be honest, I needed the distraction from sucky real life and this baby came at a perfect time.
To begin with, it looks like this is book 2 of a series, but after being curious, I spotted that book 1 is actually Sacha Shepperd Ninnette and the Dark Night by a different author Mina Raye. So I am guessing this is a crossover series with different actors participating. I did do a tour like that not too long ago, this I can safely say that these are fun.
I did not read that book 1 but I enjoyed very much Adanya’s adventure and I can tell you this is pretty much a standalone novel. I read over a couple of days, but this is short so I normally would have finished it one go, but I was trying to finish a Chinese Drama at the same time. I am not going to go into too much details as we all know I try not to give out spoilers, but then you have the blurb above.
If you want a quick romance, when you need to distract yourself then this is one for you. Like I said, I am not doing great these days, so Adanya and Xarrix brought a smile to my face. The story was fairly simple, not too many distraction though I felt it went too fast sometimes and that coming from the woman who lives for fast paced action driven books… The main characters are entertaining, and I also enjoyed the secondary ones especially Adanya’s twin brother Thane (I think he gets his own story next)…
If this is the first time visiting, well you should know that this is book 4 of Iuliana’s that I have the pleasure of reading and reviewing on this blog. If you enjoy vampires, then you should also give her Bloodline series a go as well, each book is even better than the previous one.
But coming back to the book at hand, I am going to highly recommend it, as it is well written with a nice plot line and does not disappoint. I cannot wait to see what comes next and like I said above you have more books of a different series that you can dig into. I do hope you love it as much as I did!
