Release Date: September 2nd, 2020

Escaping the summer heat of New Orleans turns into a dangerous floodwater rescue for Dr. Lilly Barnesworth. Meeting hunky Derrick May, father of a rescued boy, interrupts her self-prescribed remedy of a retreat with her young daughters to heal wounds from her recent divorce.

Derrick is on a ‘not interested’ basis with women after being ditched by his ex-wife. Seeing Lilly in action saving his asthmatic son forces a crack in his resolve. Both single parents fight their mutual skyrocketing attraction and neither expects Azalea Valley’s small-town magic to fuel their relationship. Can they overcome Lilly’s ex disturbing her newfound peace and Derrick’s rich, aggressive client demanding his personal attention? If you love small town charm, bruised hearts, and challenging decisions, return again to Azalea Valley.

The fifth in the Azalea Valley Series, An Inconvenient Attraction, is a contemporary romance set in a charming small town in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. While this novel continues to focus on a member of the McLemore family prominent in the first four in the series, An Inconvenient Attraction can be read as a stand alone.

Review:

I have read and reviewed two previous books of this series and I have to tell you that it looks like I have missed 2. No harm done, even with that I was perfectly able to read and enjoy Lilly and Derrick’s story.

So we got that out of the way, and let me get you before we dig in deeper the info you need about this series.  The first book is Wildfire and Roses and the second Rhythm in Blue. There are two more Blue Skies of Summer and Catching a Curveball that I missed.

As I mentioned, I missed book 3 and 4 but that 0 impact on my enjoyment of An Inconvenient Attraction; but that being said as I read the first 2 books of the series, I was still quite familiar with the family and most of the characters and that helped. For this reason, I do commonly recommend to read the previous books if you can. They are all lovely and easy reads and playing catch up should not take you long if you are a fast reader like me.

It was frankly quite nice going back to Azalea Valley and my favorite family there, I didn’t realize it at first but I did kinda miss them. You know old comfortable friends…

I am not going to go too much into Lilly and Derrick, because I try to avoid spoilers as much as I can, but if you have read the previous books, you know what you are getting. We have a straight forward romance and to be honest no major dramatics going on. Between us it is a relief, because considering our real world these days, I will happy take something quieter.

I finished the book in one go on a rainy afternoon and it was as far as I was concerned the perfect companion that day. Honestly, this was lovely and I did enjoy it very much, so for this reason I am going to be very much recommending it and do not forget to grab the previous books of this series if you can. I promise you will not regret it!

In the meantime, stay safe everyone and please let me know what you think after reading this baby!
