Sixteen-year-old Trinity was born during a solar eclipse and left at the doorsteps of a convent along with a torn piece of papyrus covered with ancient symbols. Raised by nuns in the English countryside, she leads a quiet life until she’s whisked away to the Island of Cats and a grandmother she never knew.

But before they can get to know each other, her grandmother dies. All that Trinity has left is a mysterious eye-shaped ring. And a thousand grieving cats. As Trinity tries to solve the enigma of the torn papyrus, she discovers a world of bloody sacrifices and evil curses, and a prophecy that points to her and her new feline abilities.

Unwilling to believe that any of the Egyptian gods could still be alive, Trinity turns to eighteen-year-old Seth and is instantly pulled into a vortex of sensations that forces her to confront her true self—and a horrifying destiny.

Review:

There you see, I am taking a small break from the greeks and we are dipping back in Egypt!  I have missed my Egyptian gods quite a bit actually, come to think of it and I do not believe I have read or posted anything closely related to this topic since Name of Ra.

I really loved Daughter of the Sun, though we take a while to really get into the heart of it all the build up in terms of it being book one of a series was super.  We meet Trinity, Ara, Dr. Nassri and Seth the main group of characters in the book and Trinity being the main.  All of them were really very nicely written and I have to give kudos for Trinity and Dr. Nassri, they were really well developed and from there it is easy to love them like Trinity, Ara and Seth or pretty much distrust them and hate their guts like Dr. Nassri who happens to be Ara’s mom.

In the book, we also have the Egyptian Myth background story with the presence of Bastet that I feel is going to expand possibly further in the series, to be fair I am not in the writer’s head but based on what is going on well it’s the assumption I am making though logically there are so many other possibilities.

There is a part of me that wants to go on and on about so many things in the book, but I believe this would be a disservice, because well I do not want to reveal too much and the surprises in there in there are so awesome that I refuse to spoilt it for you guys.  You might be annoyed with me now, but in the long run and certainly after reading the book you would know why I had to force myself in remaining silent and not spoiling it for everyone.

The storyline is Epic, really imaginative and well constructed, though on a slower pace than I usually love.  However, that did not stop me enjoying every word and all the wonderful universe Daughter of the Sun offers.

Now I cannot honestly wait for the next book in the series and see how things are going to unfold with Trinity and her new acquired little gang.

I hope you love it as much as I did!
