INSIDE the Wall (The War in the Wall Series, #1)
A. Lotus
Publication date: July 28th 2015
Genres: Dystopia, Young Adult
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Inside the wall is very different from what I expected in terms of Dystopian universes. It felt like one and not at all at the same time if that makes sense.
So in the future somewhere around NYC Nathan and Letha are best friends like their mothers and also in love. If I am not mistaken, they fell into it quite young (age 11) and were happy until well the area where they lived in was split into 2 halves and war started.
The parents and adults in general were killed at least from Letha’s side of things and children became murderers, I mean warriors set on ending the opposing faction. I kept wondering why kill them unless the whole purpose is to control the kids but ultimately to what end? At some point those kids were going to grow up, plus the area where they are is pretty much cut off, so what happens next?
I am going to straight with you guys here, there are components that I liked and felt were reasonably believable and some other bits that I did not care for too much.
All of it is from Letha’s PoV and when she is captured with her team by Nathan and dropped in a makeshift cell with the ex-governor it gets weirder…
So you see this is why I cannot make up my mind in terms of the love love or like like. At this point, to be honest is all depending on the other books in the series. I may be a tad harsh, but I believe what will make those books is what comes after.
I do not want to put in even more spoilers as I already have, but I am hoping we will get more insight and understanding in what comes next. How could 2 people make such a mess?
To be honest, I am thinking that I should be reading it again later on away from anything and see if I still feel the same way. Over the years, I have realised that my mindset influences my perception in terms of how I absorb a story. I also wanted to add that the cover is pretty badass! Don’t you guys think so?
But either way, in the meantime this has some potential for sure!
