The Dreamer (Dreamland #1)The Dreamer by E.J. Mellow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It took me forever to finish this book, not because it wasn’t good because it was but because everything got in the way.

From the moment I got the copy to review it until I started reading, I will admit that I had totally forgotten what the blurb was about, so it is safe to see that I started reading the book without a clue as to what it was going to be about and let me tell you that it was the best surprise ever.

I loved it, it was so unexpected and original and blew me away. Though it started slow and when the bang came, well let’s say that it was a big one! Luckily and I appreciated that so much we move along into the story quickly and efficiently.

I do not want to give out too many spoilers but after being hit by lightning is a freak accident Molly’s life changes drastically. Not in visible ways, but let’s say that her dreams become way more exciting. This affects her life, relationship with her boyfriend and let’s say pretty much everything in between.

The tricky part comes as Molly starts dreaming about some new place and to top it all off we have a new sexy hunk involved named Dev (short for Devlin).

As Molly travels back and forth in her sleep to Terra (that is the name of the place she dreams off) we learn more and more about this location and what it means to Molly. Actually, we finally understand why this is all happening around the end of the book if I am not mistaken around 3/4 in.

Now, the characters are very pleasant and it is so easy to empathize with Molly after she is hit by lightning and starts dreaming. Now Dev on the other does the whole mysterious guy better than many characters I have seen. I admit for a while, I did wonder if she was not really a product of Molly’s lightning strike but as their interactions and relationship grew, I started liking him more and more.

It got really fun and exciting around the last section of it and I am frankly really looking forward for the next book.

I really enjoyed it and it was so imaginative; very different that what I have been reading in that genre recently. Just for that The Dreamer get two thumbs up!

It reads really well and flows very nicely. Though it is not super fast paced, it is still steady and the flow is steadily maintained.

Frankly, I highly recommend it and as I said before, I cannot wait for book 2.
