Sweet Pursuits by Pauline Wiles
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I really really liked this book!
It was perfect!
Another little bit of book heaven!
It is way too British for my own good, considering I just recently moved back to the UK.
Now, I am writing this and I am not 100% sure if this is part of a series but really, I loved the setting, the characters and pretty much everything about it.
I thought the little town and its inhabitant were so well written and it set the atmosphere or the book so well. Honestly, it is exactly as I would have imagined it in my head, I could almost see me living there!
Now let’s talk about Bella who is great and one of us girls to be fair. I could not help but like her, she was real and everything she went through (an some was downright hilarious) could have happened to anyone. I mean, could have been me or to my next door neighbour.
The charming town and Bella both give the book so much heart and soul imho.
I also liked the fact that it wasn’t really such a blatant obvious romance, it builds super slow and steady but in a way I liked that it wasn’t all about it.
I really liked Pauline’s writing style and I would love to read more of her books for certain. She is funny, witty and can weave a good story.
I read this one in one go a week end afternoon and I loved every second of it as you might have deduced already.
I am certain you will love Bella and Sweet Pursuits like I did. Oh and if you are wondering why the book is called Sweet Pursuits, then you will need to read the book to know more my friends.
I am going to highly recommend Sweet Pursuits and encourage you to read more from Pauline!
By the way can I move to Saffron Sweeting?
Thank you so much for reading and I’m thrilled you felt a connection with both Bella and her village. There are 2 earlier books set in the same location with some overlap of characters, but this was written to stand alone so I’m glad that worked for you. I really appreciate you posting on publication day, too!
