DARE TO FALL IN LOVE
Alexander Savage, the Duke of Blackshire, is known throughout the ton for three things: the burn scars on his neck, his ornery disposition, and the trail of broken hearts behind him. None of which would concern Miss Elizabeth Lacey in the least—if she weren’t living under his roof. As his grandmother’s companion, Beth is all too concerned with the moody and compelling duke. Incensed by his plans to banish the sweet dowager duchess to the country, Beth refuses to do his bidding. If Alex wants her help, he’s going to have to take her dare…and grant her three wishes.
Alex adores his grandmother, which is precisely why she must leave. A string of unfortunate incidents has him worried for the safety of everyone around him—including the dowager’s loyal and lovely companion, Beth. But the notorious wallflower isn’t as meek as she appears, and as their battle of wills heats up, so does Alex’s desire. He’s dangerously close to falling in love with her…and revealing secrets he’d rather keep hidden. How can he convince her that his darkest days are behind him—and that, for the first time in forever, his heart is true?
Anna Bennett returns with the second novel in her Wayward Wallflowers series, I DARED THE DUKE. This charming Regency romance is as smart as it is sexy. Come along for this daring ride between a duke and the woman he falls for.
Review:
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I Dared the Duke is the second book of The Wayward Wallflowers series.
I was very lucky to have been asked by the publisher to read and review this book, the same way they were very kind and offered me the first one in the series which is My Brown-Eyed Earl. If you have read my review of My Brown-Eyed Earl, then you would know that I totally loved it!
Again, how was I meant to resist a wallflower who says she wants to shave her head than marry a cute guy?
This is how falling in love with a book happens!
With I Dared the Duke, it was LOVE yes all capped at the first paragraph plus 1 sentence! I stumbled and crashed in love with Anna’s writing once again and I think this is for life!
Just like My Brown-Eyed Earl, I Dared the Duke is funny, witty, charming, heartwarming and sheer Regency perfection in one book! Everything I love about Regency was right within those pages!
Truth, I may have fallen a little bit for the Duke myself….
I read it all in one swoop and there was a big smile plastered on my face from previously mentioned first paragraph to the last page!
In the first book we meet Margaret and here in I Dared the Duke, we get to know more her middle sister Elizabeth. That is another woman after my own heart who is smart, sassy and can give our dear Alex (The Duke) a good run for his money.
Don’t you just love those feisty Regency ladies?
I know, I do….
They make me laugh, I cannot help myself!
I do not want to give away the plot too much, because it is really entertaining and just like My Brown-Eyed Earl, we have a small mystery on our hands.
Ok since you insist so much, someone is trying to kill Alex.
I know!!!!!!!!!!
Why would anyone in their right mind want to kill him?
But seriously, if you are a fan of Regency, there is no way that you are not going to go gaga like me over this book. Plus if you have read My Brown-Eyed Earl, then you have to read I Dared the Duke, you have no choice!
I am pretty much obsessed with this series and I cannot wait for book 3 and the youngest sister to be available too.
Anna’s writing is wonderful and witty, she is really on point, there is nothing that I would change not a comma or a period. I really hope you will crash in love with this series as much as I did and enjoy every word of I Dared the Duke

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Anna Bennett started swiping romances from her mom’s bookshelf as a teenager and decided that books with balls, dukes, and gowns were the best. So, when she had the chance to spend a semester in London she packed her bags—and promptly fell in love with the city, its history, and its pubs. She dreamed of writing romance, but somehow ended up a software analyst instead.
Fortunately, a few years and a few careers later, Anna found her way back to writing the stories she loves and won the Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart®. She lives in Maryland with her husband and three children, who try valiantly not to roll their eyes whenever she quotes Jane Austen. Other weaknesses include reality TV, cute shoes, and coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.
