The Sword of Souls (The Last Valkyrie #2)
by Karina Espinosa
Raven Romero lost the Sword of Souls, giving up the search for the only weapon that could kill Odin.
Instead, she teamed up with human detective William Callahan to find the drug lord responsible for Venom—a narcotic leaving dead humans and supernaturals in its wake. But priorities change when a greater evil threatens Midgard and the only way to defeat it is with the sword.
Being the humans’ champion isn’t easy, especially during withdrawal while trying to stay sober. And Raven is struggling with both.
Enemies become friends and new enemies emerge as the hunt begins for The Sword of Souls.
Review:
Here we go friends, I am back hanging out with my favorite Valkyrie and I had such a good time.
To recap this is book 2 so you need to start by reading book 1 The Last Valkyrie so that you can enjoy this baby. Please know this if you have landed on this post first.
I have read the book in one sitting and I don’t know why it felt a little shorter than usual. If you are a regular reader of mine, then you are very much aware that I am a huge fan of Karina’s work especially my girl Mac.
We are back here with Raven following the events at the end of The Last Valkyrie. This is very clearly a transition book as we make progress in the plot and the characters. Now I say this and don’t get me wrong, there are a few surprises here and there, but for me, it was so clear that we are setting the stage for something big (oh yes please!!!) in the next book.
I cannot recall if I got the information from Karina as to how many books will be in this series but based on her other ones I am expecting either 3 or 4 and that would make perfect sense.
Though I am trying to avoid spoilers, I am wondering what the heck Fen is plotting. There is clearly something he is keeping to himself, but I am dying to know what it is exactly. It could be a big reveal in the next book…
Let’s hope so…
(You can tell me what it is Karina in secret, I promise not to tell!!!)
Look, if you have read any of Karina’s other books and love them The Sword of Souls is no different at all in quality. If this is your first intro, then as I said before go to book 1 and start from there as you will certainly not regret it.
I am going to very highly recommend this book but mostly the series in general and I cannot wait for book 3. Luckily, Karina is very prolific and publishes her books on a regular basis. I do think that her next book out will be the next volume in Mac’s second series and then back to this one, but I am just speculating here…
I do hope you love The Sword of Souls as much as I did and would love to hear from you!
