When I was given the chance to review Suddenly Spellbound, I did not know what I was getting myself into. Again as a new book blogger I am discovering a lot of fantastic authors and books already part of series. Just like what happened to me with Name of Ra, Suddenly Spellbound is actually Book 2 of the Ivie McKie Chronicles. Since I had time I went back and got book 1 Suddenly Sorceress (The Ivie McKie Chronicles Book 1).
I started reading it, and I don’t think I had laughed so hard at her unfortunately hilarious situations she gets into. I read it in pretty much one sitting and I could not stop cracking up. In case you are wondering, it is a super book to simply sit back and enjoy light hearted fun and actually some pretty cool and crazy characters like Chloe the bestie and Jack our resident mchottie!
Now moving on to Book 2 Suddenly Spellbound (The Ivie McKie Chronicles Book 2) we get into the thick of things and worry not Ivie is still getting into sticky situations where we are dealing with an arranged marriage (are we still in the middle ages here people?) another mchottie, ok not mchottie cause that is Jack. But let’s say that Jack is having some stiff competition thrown his way and Ivie’s daddy well he is a mess.
I was going to say that she was like Jack Bauer and all those bad days, but her are more funny situational stuff rather I need to save the free world stuff.
Oh oops, did I not mention it? Ivie is a witch! No no not a witch she is a Sorceress!!
I have an equation for you magic + newbie = spells going very wrong = funneh!!!
That is our math lesson for today!
Ok back to the serious book reviewing business, I noticed that we have gotten a little more serious in the second book contrary to the first one. Less loud laughter but still a few good placed ones. I believe this is related to Ivie growing up and dealing with her magic better. After all based on above math she was clueless in book one so more crazy stuff going on.
This is looking out to be another super fantastic series and I am not going to be missing any of the upcoming book. So if you are like me and you enjoy a good laugh and having a fun good paced story with entertaining personalities then this is the book for you or I should say the books for you.
I am officially addicted and cannot wait for more.
Author’s Bio:
After walking away from her career as a business banker to pursue writing full-time, Erica moved from the hustle and bustle of the big city to a small tourist town in the North Georgia Mountains where she lives in a 90-year-old haunted farmhouse with her workaholic husband, her 180lb lap dog, and at least one ghost.
When she’s not busy writing or tending to her collection of crazy chickens, diabolical ducks, and a quintet of piglets, hell bent on having her for dinner, she’s either reading bad fan fiction or singing karaoke in the local pub. Much like the main character in her first book, To Katie With Love, Erica is a magnet for disaster, and has been known to trip on air while walking across flat surfaces.
How she’s managed to survive this long is one of life’s great mysteries.
